Spring into New Training Programs
It’s been a long winter, but I think we’ve finally made it. I love spring. It’s a time of renewal and optimism. It’s a time to try something new and seek new challenges and opportunities. It’s a time to check on your health and fitness and to commit to it with increased energy and motivation.
At Focus Personal Fitness we’ve made our own commitment to your health and well-being. Part of that is offering a number of new ways to keep you motivated, challenged, and achieving new levels of fitness and health. Starting on May 13th from 6:00 to 6:45pm, we will be offering a new Bootcamp class. Led by personal trainer Ben Robinson, this group training class will be held outdoors in the park area around the Woolen Mill facility. In each class, participants will be suited up with a cool backpack and some fitness gear. As Ben leads you around the mill you will stop at various stations where some of these tools will be used to improve your fitness. Classes run for 45 minutes, and will include cardio, strength, balance and agility elements. What better way to improve your fitness than being outdoors in a structured training session? This class is also suitable for all fitness levels, and provides a good challenge and variety.
Larry our yoga instructor at Focus is running a Yin Yoga class on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:00pm and he will also be holding a Spring into Yoga class on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30pm. This class is designed to pull you out of the winter doldrums and get you ready for summer; suitable for beginners or novice practitioners of yoga. Larry is also providing one on one yoga sessions to interested clients. Sessions can be developed to deal with particular concerns you have with mobility and flexibility but can also be for learning how to breathe effectively and deal with the negative effects of stress. Contact Hope to arrange your personal training session with Larry.
Have you ever wanted to do a triathlon? Can’t swim? Not confident on your bike? Have you ever had instruction with your running? Well… now is the time to put it all together with our Intro to Triathlon program starting on May 11th. This program is strictly for beginners with the goal of competing the Cornwall Triathlon on August 23rd. Fees will include one specialized training session per week plus a weekly opportunity to swim, bike and run under the supervision of expert coaches in the field. Fee includes the race entry fee to the Cornwall Triathlon.
Also new this spring is our Focus on Bones Class. This specialized class is designed to help folks who have osteoporosis and get them educated on the best ways to exercise and move in a safe and structured program. Sessions will run on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00pm.
Spring always brings thoughts and concerns about your diet. What you’re eating, when you should eat, what to eat to lose weight or gain weight. All complex questions that require an individual approach. Improving your diet requires constant reflection and ideas to keep you thinking of the best possible diet modifications you can implement to improve your health and fitness. To help with this we have created an eight week program called Focus on Change; it includes unlimited group training sessions but also a Facebook closed group support network with nutrition and diet ideas. Pre and post assessments will include caliper and girth measurements. Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist Theresa Schneider will provide nutrition advice. Program lead is Laura Breck.
Our goal at Focus Personal Fitness is to support you in whatever fitness and wellness journey you are on. These new specialized training programs have been designed and developed to cater to individuals at a variety of fitness levels. We aim to help you live your life to the fullest and be your best self, and we look forward to working with you as your wellness needs grow and change.
Enjoy the spring season.
